Example week program

Day 1 (day of arrival): Tour of the well-preserved 16th century Torgau’s old town, visit of the Renaissanceschloss Hartenfels with the Lutherkirche and the memorial of the meeting. For pet lovers a visit to the Graditz stud is a special experience.

Day 2: Bus trip to Dresden, visit of the reconstructed Marienkirche, the castle, the Zwinger, the green vault. Then bike ride from Dresden to Moritzburg and on to Meißen (cycle route 72 km), visit the Albrechtsburg with castle church, visit the porcelain factory, return by bus to Torgau.

Day 3: Cycling on the Elberadweg via Dommitzsch and Pretzsch to the Lutherstadt Wittenberg (cycling distance 75 km). Visit to the Schlosskirche church, the town church and the Schwarzen Klosters, where Luther lived and worked for almost three decades until his death. Return by bus to Torgau.

Day 4: Excursion to the Spreewald with boat trip through the unique cultural landscape. Cycle tour over Herzberg, Luckau through the nature park Niederlausitz to Lübben, return to Torgau by bus.

Day 5: Bus trip to Bad Düben. Cycle tour through the Dübener Heide to the Oranienbaum Castle and Park, to the Wörlitzer Park and to Dessau with the Bauhaus master houses (cycle route approx. 75 km). Return by bus to Torgau.

Day 6: Bus trip and cycle trip to Halle (about 70 km), visit of the old town. Continue by bus to Leipzig, visit the Thomaskirche and Nikolaikirche. On request visit the famous picture gallery (new building) Return by bus to Torgau.

Day 7: Farewell to Torgau and return home.

As alternative day trips you can:

  • Bus trip to Aken. Cycling tour from Aken via Barby and Schönebeck to Magdeburg. (About 70 km). Visit of the old town with the cathedral. Return by bus.
  • Bus trip to Bad Schandau. Cycle trip to Schilka, back via Bad Schandau through the Elbtal (Elbsandsteingebirge) to Königsstein Castle and further via Pirna to Pillnitz Castle. Return to Torgau by bus. Radtour approx. 60 km
